THE LAST WALTZ
On Thanksgiving Day 1976, Martin Scorsese and a first class crew of videographers joined forces at Winterland in San Francisco, to record and film the final performance of a legendary rock group.
Retiring after 16 years together, they would perform one final concert in the same venue where legendary impresario Bill Graham first introduced them in April of 1969. Their last hurrah came with a Turkey Dinner for the 5000 fans who spent $25 a ticket. The set on stage was the borrowed backdrop of La Traviatta from the San Francisco Opera Company.
